USA-MADE CAPACITORS

In a way, a capacitor is very similar to a battery. Although they work in different ways, capacitors and batteries both store electrical energy. A battery has two terminals and inside the battery, chemical reactions produce electrons on one terminal and absorb electrons on the other terminal. A capacitor is much simpler than a battery, as it can’t produce new electrons — it only stores them.

Inside the capacitor, the terminals connect to two metal plates separated by a non-conducting substance, or dielectric. Depending on the size and type of dielectric, some capacitors are better for high-frequency uses, while some are better for high voltage applications. Capacitors can be manufactured to serve any purpose, from the smallest plastic capacitor in your calculator, to a higher power capacitor that can power your air conditioning unit.

The major difference between a capacitor and a battery is that a capacitor can dump its entire charge in a tiny fraction of a second, where a battery would take minutes to completely discharge. For instance, an electronic flash on your camera uses a capacitor — the battery charges up the flash’s capacitor over several seconds, and then the capacitor dumps the full charge into the flash almost instantly. This is why many electrical appliances have warnings about opening them. These capacitors can hold a large amount of energy and if mishandled can kill you.

Titan HD® capacitors have reliability data backed up by the most extensive life testing in the industry.”

Charlie Swett, Vice President Global Sourcing Packard, Inc.

Being that a capacitor is such a vital part of many electrical systems we believe you should invest in quality. That’s why we sell Titan HD capacitors which are made in America and are held to a very high standard of quality. The video below explains more about that…

We only source our capacitors from Packard and since they have started selling Titan HD capacitors we have only supplied this high-quality American made brand. We have found that our customers not only enjoy supporting U.S. manufactured products, but they can rely on them to keep their equipment running safely for many years.

At All Appliance Parts, we keep Titan HD Capacitors in stock so give us a call or stop on by and we can hook you up.
