  • Are there indoor air quality issues in your home?
  • Are you afraid your air ducts contain mold?
  • Do you or your family members suffer from serious allergies?  Are you interested in breathing better?

A UV air purifier in your HVAC unit might be the ticket!

Installing an ultraviolet light/UV air purifier in your HVAC air handler helps kill microbes as they pass through the system. They can offer tremendous relief in hot, humid areas like ours and, in particular, for those suffering from allergies.

Do HVAC UV lights really work?

In short YES! A UV light in your HVAC unit kills organic growths. Mold and bacteria are an unavoidable fact of life in humid climates but it doesn’t mean you have to live with them. In most cases a UV light is installed near the coils can prevent mold and bacteria growth as air passes through your system. Since all of the air passes through the coils, this also kills growths floating in the air. UV lights are particularly effective in humid climates like our in Sarasota, Desoto and Manatee counties, where evaporator coils can accumulate moisture easily

Though a UV light will destroy mold and bacteria they have no effect on dust, pet dander or other allergens, a high quality air filter helps with that. UV lights do not remove 100% of the mold and bacteria in the air but they certainly help and reduce many common allergens floating in the air of your home. Basically if you suffer from allergies, get a UV light in your HVAC unit.
